I’m Shannon. I grew up (and still reside) in Mississippi as a mixed race kid (half Southeast Asian & half white) during the 70s and 80s. I’m familiar with racism. I don’t necessarily focus on that aspect of my life in my work but it’s there.
My photography focuses on the truth of my life. How I live. The spaces I inhabit and how those spaces reflect my mental state.
Feelings of loneliness and sadness are prevalent in all the art I create. I live with Bipolar Disorder which seems to be a very popular diagnosis these days. I try to be as honest and open about my mental health as I can. It’s not something I am ashamed of.
The work I do to make money is in multimedia production. I am a front end developer, photographer, video editor, graphic designer, online security specialist, copywriter and producer.
I would love to make a living from art but I think if it became a full time job I probably wouldn’t enjoy making art anymore.
I’d love to hear from you.
Holler at me anytime.
